FA Sunday Cup
FROLESWORTH United reached the last 32 of the FA Sunday Cup for the first time in the club's history after a 5-3 win against Nottinghamshire Sunday League Premier Division champions Trentside FC at Hall Park.
The hosts opened the scoring after just 12 minutes when Alex Rhodes confidently dispatched after he was put clean through by Callum Riley, but the lead lasted barely 60 seconds as Trentside immediately hit back to level at 1-1. Barnes Gladman restored United's lead in the 37th minute, latching on to Dom Ivens' long ball before Rhodes put the hosts in command three minutes later with Riley once again the provider.
18-year-old front man Rhodes completed his hat-trick four minutes after the restart, again collecting the ball from Riley before firing a vicious drive into the roof of the net to make it 4-1 but Trentside hit back inside a minute for the second time after a cruel deflection left Oli Faulkner with no chance.
But Callum Wills ensured United's passage into the third round after he converted from close range after Trentside failed to clear Riley's corner. The visitors made it 5-3 with seven minutes to play, but the Rabbits held on to reach the last 32 where they will face Charnwood Sunday League Premier Division outfit Quorn Royals 2008.
